About Saltator grandis (Deppe, 1830)
The cinnamon-bellied saltator, also called the northern grey saltator, has the scientific name Saltator grandis (Deppe, 1830). It is a passerine bird that belongs to the tanager family Thraupidae. This species was formerly classified as conspecific with the greyish saltator Saltator coerulescens. In 2021, the International Ornithological Congress split it into a separate distinct species. Its distribution range extends from Mexico to Panama. In El Salvador, it is widely known by the local name dichosofui. This name comes from an elaborate version of its call, which sounds like the drawn-out Spanish phrase ¡dichoso fui!, meaning "I was happy!".
