Sagittaria natans Pall. is a flowering aquatic plant species that belongs to the water plantain family. This plant produces floating leaves that can be linear, heart-shaped, or arrow-shaped. It is native to northern Europe and Asia, and is commonly cultivated outside its native range as an aquatic ornamental plant for aquaria and artificial ponds. Within its native range, it is widespread across most of the Russian Federation. It has also been documented to occur in Finland, Sweden, Mongolia, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, and the Chinese provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Nei Mongol, and Xinjiang. Sagittaria natans grows in slow-moving and stagnant water bodies, including ponds and small streams.
