About Sagittaria brevirostra Mack. & Bush

Sagittaria brevirostra, with common names Midwestern arrowhead and shortbeak arrowhead, is an aquatic plant species native to North America. This is a perennial herb that grows up to 70 centimetres (28 inches) tall, and it has arrow-shaped leaves and white flowers. It is common in wet locations across a range that extends from Michigan and Ohio south to Alabama, and west to North Dakota, Colorado, and northern New Mexico. Isolated populations of the species also exist in Maryland, New Brunswick, Virginia, Saskatchewan, and Marin County, California. It grows in shallow water along the edges of ponds, swamps, and waterways.
