About Sabatia kennedyana Fernald

Sabatia kennedyana Fernald is a perennial herb that produces stolons, each ending in a basal rosette of leaves. Its flowers are pink with a white or yellow center. Flowers may reach 5 centimeters wide, and have between 9 and 11 petals. This plant grows in wetlands, specifically lakes and ponds located on the Atlantic coastal plain. It occurs in areas with fluctuating water levels and other types of natural disturbance, such as ice scour, that remove competing vegetation. It is not a strong competitor against other plant species.
