About Sabatia campanulata (L.) Torr. ex Griseb.
Sabatia campanulata (L.) Torr. ex Griseb., commonly called the slender rose gentian or slender marsh-pink, is an herbaceous flowering plant in the gentian family. It is primarily native to the southeastern United States. Its populations extend northward along the Atlantic Coast as far as Massachusetts, and become increasingly rare the further north they occur. This species is most abundant in coastal regions. Its natural habitat consists of open, moist, acidic areas, including bogs, seeps, and pine savannas. It is a perennial plant that blooms with pink flowers during the summer. This species is listed as endangered by five organizations: the New York Division of Land and Forests Department of Environmental Conservation, the Department of Arkansas Heritage Inventory Research Program, the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program, the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Natural Heritage Program.
