Rytidosperma setifolium (Hook.f.) Connor & Edgar is a perennial plant that grows in low tussocks. Its glumes are purple, ranging in shade from red to black. This species is found on the North, South, and Stewart Islands of New Zealand. It inhabits mountainous areas, and occurs particularly in rocky habitats in the northern part of its distribution range.
