Its base body color is black, with white, yellow, orange, or reddish markings located on the head, pronotum, and elytra. Adult beetles of this species feed on flowers and decaying wood. The larvae are xylophagous (wood-eating), and are typically found inside decaying tree trunks. This species occurs in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.
