Scientific name: Russula parvovirescens Buyck, D.Mitch. & Parrent

Morphological description: The green cap of this fungus is convex, with a nearly flat top and a central depression. Cap width ranges from 4 to 7 centimetres (1+1⁄2–2+3⁄4 inches). The cap has a quilted appearance, caused by cracks that become more prominent closer to the cap margin. The stem is 3.5–7 cm (1+1⁄2–2+3⁄4 in) long and 8–18 millimetres (3⁄8–3⁄4 in) thick. The spore print of Russula parvovirescens is cream-colored.

Distribution and habitat: This species is found in the eastern United States, where it appears from June to September.
