Rubus sanctus Schreb. is also classified as Rubus ulmifolius subsp. sanctus, and is commonly known as holy bramble. It is a bramble species native to regions of Asia and Europe. The plant is known to be very long-lived. One individual holy bramble grows at the Chapel of the Burning Bush on Mount Sinai, where it is revered as the original burning bush described in the Bible. The plant’s long lifespan and this famous growing location gave rise to its Latin scientific name.
