About Rubus rolfei S.Vidal

Like other members of the genus Rubus, creeping raspberries (Rubus rolfei S.Vidal) produce aggregate fruits. Each visible "fruit" is actually a cluster of small fruit-like pistils joined together into a single mass. Creeping raspberry fruits look similar to blackberries or red raspberries, but differ in their color, which ranges from yellow to orangish-red. The edible fruits develop after the plant produces white flowers in early summer. This species is sometimes used to create a low-growing, non-invasive, semi-evergreen to evergreen ground cover. Cultivars such as 'Emerald Carpet' are commonly available in the horticultural plant trade.
