About Rubus probus L.H.Bailey

Rubus probus, commonly called Atherton raspberry or wild raspberry, is a scrambling shrub in the Rosaceae family, native to Malesia and Queensland. Atherton raspberry grows rampantly, and like most species in the Rubus genus, it can form dense thorny thickets. Its leaves are compound, typically bearing five ovate leaflets. Each leaflet measures 4โ€“10 cm (1.6โ€“3.9 in) in length, 2โ€“5 cm (0.8โ€“2.0 in) in width, and has deeply toothed margins. Flowering takes place in spring and summer, after which the plant produces bright red aggregate fruits 10โ€“20 mm (0.4โ€“0.8 in) in diameter. The fruits are edible. It has been grown commercially to a limited extent in Australia as a cool season punnet fruit.
