About Rubus dasyphyllus (W.M.Rogers) W.M.Rogers

Rubus dasyphyllus is an arching bramble shrub with a hairy, reddish stem. Its stem bears numerous prickles and pricklets that range in length from 1 to 8 mm (0.039 to 0.315 in), along with many stalked and sessile glands. Its leaves are divided into 3 to 5 leaflets, which are light glossy green and hairless on the upper surface, and greyish and downy on the lower surface. The flowers are pink, around 2.5 cm in diameter. They form a compact terminal inflorescence, with smaller axillary inflorescences also present. This species is one of the most common bramble species in parts of Great Britain, especially in Wales and northern England. It is absent from the Scottish Highlands and the southern half of Ireland, and its range extends eastward to Germany.
