About Rothus aethiopicus (Pavesi, 1883)
Rothus aethiopicus (Pavesi, 1883) is a species of spider belonging to the family Pisauridae. It is commonly referred to as the common Rothus nursery-web spider. This spider has been recorded to occur in Cameroon, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Eswatini, Egypt, and Israel. Within South Africa, it has been collected from every province at altitudes between 4 m and 1795 m. Rothus aethiopicus is a free-living plant-dwelling spider that is very commonly found on plants during the night. It has been sampled from the Fynbos, Grassland, Nama Karoo, Savanna, and Succulent biomes, and has also been collected from lucerne fields, pecan orchards, and vineyards.
