Rorippa aquatica (Eaton) E.J.Palmer & Steyerm., with synonyms Neobeckia aquatica and Armoracia lacustris, is commonly known as lakecress or lake cress. It is a species of freshwater aquatic flowering plant belonging to the family Brassicaceae. This species is native to eastern and central North America, where it occurs most commonly in the Great Lakes and Mississippi watersheds. It is a submerged perennial plant that produces emergent flowering branches. It typically grows in slow-moving water bodies, including oxbow lakes. It is used as a foreground plant in aquariums, because it has low care requirements and grows very slowly.
