About Romulea flava (Lam.) M.P.de Vos
Romulea flava (Lam.) M.P.de Vos, commonly called greenbract froetang, is a species of flowering plant in the iris family, Iridaceae. This species is native to the Cape Provinces, and has been introduced into the Australian states of New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia. Mature plants reach a height of 10 to 15 cm. Their flowers are white or yellow on the outside, with an inner yellow cup. Flowers only open on warm, sunny days, and typically open only during the afternoon. Four infraspecific taxa are currently accepted: Romulea flava var. flava (Lam.) M.P.de Vos, Romulea flava var. minor (Bég.) M.P.de Vos, Romulea flava var. hirsuta (Bég.) M.P.de Vos, and Romulea flava var. viridiflora (Bég.) M.P.de Vos.
