About Roemeria refracta DC.

Roemeria refracta, commonly called the spotted Asia-poppy, is an annual hairy herbaceous species belonging to the genus Roemeria in the poppy family Papaveraceae. Individuals of this species grow between 4 and 50 cm in height. Its petals are red with a black spot at the base, and a white border may surround this black spot in some plants. One variety of this species, Roemeria refracta var. alba, produces all-white petals. Its fruit is a narrow dehiscent capsule that measures 2 to 8 cm in length. This species is distributed across Turkey, Iran, the Caucasus, Transcaucasus, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
