About Rhytiphora bankii (Fabricius, 1775)

Rhytiphora bankii is a species of beetle that belongs to the family Cerambycidae. It was first formally described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1775, and was originally placed within the genus Lamia. This species is native to Australia, the Philippines, Borneo, Java, Micronesia, New Guinea, Hawaii, the Moluccas, Sumatra, and Vietnam, and it has since been introduced into Japan. In 2013, all Australian species that were previously classified in the genus Prosoplus were synonymized into the genus Rhytiphora. Rhytiphora bankii feeds on Agave sisalana, as well as on plant species from the following families: Apocynaceae, Asparagaceae, Asteraceae, Capparaceae, Chenopodaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Malvaceae, Poaceae, and Rutaceae.
