About Rhyothemis braganza Karsch, 1890

Rhyothemis braganza, commonly called the Iridescent flutterer, is a dragonfly species belonging to the family Libellulidae. The Rhyothemis genus ranges from Africa to the western Pacific, and five species from this genus are found in Australia. Rhyothemis braganza lives in streams, rivers, and riverine pools on and adjacent to the coast in Queensland, the Northern Territory, and northern Western Australia. This is a medium-sized dragonfly with a wingspan between 60 and 85 millimeters. In adult Rhyothemis braganza, the dark markings on the forewings and hindwings are of similar length, and lack the pale spots that are present on the similar species Rhyothemis resplendens. This taxon has an IUCN Red List assessment of least concern.
