About Rhynchospora caduca Elliott

Rhynchospora caduca, commonly known as anglestem beaksedge, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the sedge family, Cyperaceae. It is native to North America, occurring in the southeastern United States. Its typical natural habitat consists of low, wet areas, including marshes, seeps, tidal swamps, pine savannas, and flatwoods. Rhynchospora caduca is a cespitose perennial that usually grows short scaly rhizomes. It is tall compared to other species in the Rhynchospora genus, reaching up to 150 cm in height. It produces fruit from summer through fall. This species is closely related to Rhynchospora mixta and Rhynchospora odorata, and local introgressant populations of it have been recorded.
