About Rhodothemis rufa (Rambur, 1842)

Rhodothemis rufa is a medium-sized dragonfly. Adult males have red eyes, thorax, and abdomen. Young males and females have a mid-dorsal citron-yellow stripe on the pro-thorax, as well as a citron-yellow stripe on the mid-dorsum of each abdominal segment. In adult males, these yellow markings become obscured by pruinescence. Females are brown in color. This dragonfly breeds in open ponds, marshes, and lakes.
