About Rhodothemis lieftincki Fraser, 1954

Rhodothemis lieftincki, commonly called the Red arrow, is a species of dragonfly belonging to the family Libellulidae. Species of the genus Rhodothemis are distributed across India, southeast Asia, and Australia. Rhodothemis lieftincki is the only member of this genus that has been recorded in Australia. This dragonfly lives in coastal and inland streams, rivers, lagoons, and ponds, found in an arc across northern Australia that extends from around Geraldton in the west to Sydney in the east. Rhodothemis lieftincki is a medium-sized dragonfly with a wingspan that measures 60 to 85 millimeters. Adult males are red in color, while females are a duller brown or orange. Rhodothemis lieftincki has been assessed by the IUCN Red List as a species of least concern.
