Rhizophora stylosa Griffith is a mangrove species that grows to a maximum height of 15 metres (50 ft), with a trunk diameter reaching up to 25 centimetres (10 in). Its bark is dark brown to black in color. The fruits of Rhizophora stylosa are ovoid to pear-shaped, and grow up to 4 centimetres (2 in) long. This species grows naturally in Japan, China, Taiwan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malesia, Australia (specifically New South Wales and Queensland), and many regions across the Pacific. It inhabits sandy beaches and coral terraces along seashores.
