Rhamnus oleoides L., commonly called olive buckthorn, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the family Rhamnaceae. Its native range extends from the Mediterranean region through to the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Its native territory includes the entire Mediterranean basin, covering Algeria, the Balearic Islands, Crete, the East Aegean Islands, Egypt, France, Greece, Libya, Morocco, Portugal, Sardinia, Sicily, Spain, and Tunisia, and stretches eastward to include Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
