About Reseda lutea L.

Reseda lutea L., commonly known as yellow mignonette or wild mignonette, is a species of fragrant herbaceous flowering plant. Starting from the first millennium BC, its leaves and flowers have been used to produce a yellow dye called "weld". A related plant species, Reseda luteola, was used more widely for this same dye purpose. This species is native to Eurasia and North Africa. It has been introduced to other continents, where it exists as an introduced species and a common weed. In Australia, it is classified as a noxious weed and an agricultural crop pest.
