About Reseda alba L.

Reseda alba is a species of flowering plant in the reseda family, with common names white mignonette or white upright mignonette. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to parts of the Americas and Australia. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant, valued for its spikelike racemes of fragrant white flowers. This plant is an annual or perennial herb that can grow up to one meter tall. Its leaves are deeply divided into many narrow lobes. The inflorescence often occupies most of the upper stem, and is densely packed with many white flowers. Each flower has five or six petals, each divided into three long, narrow lobes, which gives the raceme a frilly appearance. The fruit is a nearly rectangular four-angled capsule that grows up to 1.4 centimeters long.
