About Rapala manea (Hewitson, 1863)

Rapala manea, commonly known as the slate flash, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. Its scientific name is Rapala manea (Hewitson, 1863). This butterfly occurs across most of the Indomalayan realm, with Taiwan being the exception within this region. The wingspan of adult Rapala manea ranges from 24 to 26 mm. The larvae of the subspecies R. m. schistacea feed on the flowers of plant species from four families: Rosaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Combretaceae, and Leguminosae. Two recorded host plant species for these larvae are Quisqualis indica and Acacia caesia.
