About Ranunculus ophioglossifolius Vill.
Ranunculus ophioglossifolius Vill., commonly called adder's-tongue spearwort, is a herbaceous species belonging to the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. This plant produces small, bright yellow flowers that resemble typical buttercup blooms. It has a wide native distribution across southern Europe, particularly Sardinia, North Africa including Macaronesia, and western Asia. It was introduced to New Zealand in 1957. Within the British Isles, the species is currently limited to just two sites, and in Scandinavia, it only grows at a small number of sites on the island of Gotland.
