Quercus crassifolia Bonpl. is a species of oak. This species is widespread across Mexico, ranging from Sonora and Chihuahua in the north to Veracruz and Chiapas in the south. It has also been recorded growing in Guatemala. Quercus crassifolia grows as either a shrub or a small tree, and can reach a maximum height of 15 metres (49 feet). Its shoots are covered in many yellow or light brown branching hairs. The leaves are broadly egg-shaped, with the widest portion of the leaf located away from the stem; leaves can grow up to 20 centimetres (8 inches) long, and have 6 to 12 pointed teeth along each margin. Local people in the regions where the oak grows use its wood to make tool handles and farm implements.
