Pyrrhopappus carolinianus (Walter) DC., commonly known as Carolina desert-chicory or Texas dandelion, is a member of the genus Pyrrhopappus in the daisy family Asteraceae. It is native across eastern and southeastern United States. This annual plant grows most often in open grasslands and wet roadsides, and has also been recorded growing at marsh edges, in sandpine-oak woodlands, and in savannas. Its flowering period runs from spring through frost, and its flower heads track the sun throughout the day. Oligolectic bees of the genus Hemihalictus are known pollinators of Carolina desert-chicory.
