About Pyrola media Sw.

Pyrola media, commonly known as the intermediate wintergreen, is a flowering plant belonging to the genus Pyrola. It is native to northern and eastern Europe, as well as Western Asia. This species is a herbaceous, evergreen perennial that grows a basal rosette of leaves and a single upright flowering stem that reaches 15 to 30 cm in height. Its leaves are round, with a maximum diameter of 4.5 cm. The flowers are white or pale pink, measure 7 to 11 mm across, and have a straight style that extends past the petals. In the British Isles, Pyrola media is a rare species whose population is declining.
