About Pyrgus carlinae (Rambur, 1839)

This species, Pyrgus carlinae, is treated as H. carlinae Rambr. in Seitz (plate 85 h). The underside of its hindwing is reddish brown. The white spots located between veins 2 and 4 are much reduced in size. In interspace 2, there is a typically rounded white spot that is part of the subterminal band; the rest of the subterminal band is only faintly marked. This species is found in the Alps and the mountains of Arragonia. Adult Pyrgus carlinae are active on the wing from June to August.
