About Pyrausta volupialis Grote, 1877

Pyrausta volupialis, commonly called the volupial pyrausta moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Crambidae. This species was first described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1877. It is native to North America, with recorded ranges extending from Oklahoma, Utah, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and California in the United States, south to Chiapas, Mexico. The forewings of adult individuals reach a length of 8 to 10.5 mm. Adult moths have been recorded in flight throughout the entire year. The larvae of this moth feed on plant species in the family Lamiaceae, including Rosmarinus officinalis.
