This moth species, Pyrausta inornatalis Fernald, 1885, has an imago wingspan of approximately 13 to 16 millimeters. Its forewings are solid reddish pink, with no eye-spots or other distinct markings. The hindwings are pale brownish gray, paler at their base, and have a reddish pink band along the outer margin. The moth’s abdomen matches the color of its hindwings, while the thorax also holds the same reddish pink color seen on the forewings. The moth’s head bears brown antennae and brown mouthparts. Its eyes are large and yellowish green. Adult moths have been recorded in flight from March through November.
