About Pultenaea reflexifolia (J.H.Willis) de Kok

Pultenaea reflexifolia, commonly called wombat bush-pea, is an erect shrub that typically grows to a maximum height of 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches). Its foliage is covered in tangled hairs. The leaves are elliptic to narrow egg-shaped, with the narrower end positioned toward the base. They measure 5โ€“10 mm (0.20โ€“0.39 in) long and around 1 mm (0.039 in) wide, and are curved downwards. Stipules 3โ€“4 mm (0.12โ€“0.16 in) long are present at the base of each leaf. The flowers are yellow and red, and arranged in one or two leaf axils on the ends of short side branches. Papery, broadly egg-shaped bracts 1โ€“3 mm (0.039โ€“0.118 in) long grow at the base of the flower arrangement. The sepals are 5โ€“6 mm (0.20โ€“0.24 in) long. Glabrous, broadly egg-shaped bracteoles 3โ€“5 mm (0.12โ€“0.20 in) long are located at the base of the sepal tube. Flowering takes place in November. The standard petal is 6โ€“9 mm (0.24โ€“0.35 in) wide, and the fruit is a hairy pod. This species is restricted to scattered areas of dry forest west of Melbourne.
