The northern white-faced owl, with the scientific name Ptilopsis leucotis (Temminck, 1820), is an owl species that belongs to the Strigidae family. The southern white-faced owl, P. granti, was previously classified as part of this species. When the two were grouped together, they were collectively called the white-faced scops-owl. This species lives in a continuous band of habitat across Africa, stretching between the Sahara Desert and the Equator.
