Hildebrandt's spurfowl, with the scientific name Pternistis hildebrandti (first described by Cabanis in 1878), is a bird species belonging to the family Phasianidae. This species occurs naturally in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia. It is named after Johann Maria Hildebrandt, who collected the first known specimens of the species in Kenya. Males and females of this species show clear differences in plumage, and females are smaller in size than males.
