Psydrax obovatus (Klotzsch ex Eckl. & Zeyh.) Bridson is a species of flowering plant belonging to the Rubiaceae family. It grows as either a shrub or a tree, and is native to southern Africa. Its native distribution extends across the Cape Provinces, KwaZulu-Natal, the Northern Provinces, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. Two subspecies of Psydrax obovatus are currently accepted. Psydrax obovatus subsp. ellipticus Bridson is found in Mozambique, the Northern Provinces, and Zimbabwe. Psydrax obovatus subsp. obovatus is found in the Cape Provinces, KwaZulu-Natal, Mozambique, and the Northern Provinces.
