About Psorothamnus scoparius (A.Gray) Rydb.
Psorothamnus scoparius, commonly called broom dalea, is a small shrub. It has grey branches and a broom-like overall appearance. After rainfall, it produces purple flowers and only a small number of simple leaves. This species is native to the southwestern United States. It occurs most commonly in sandy areas within the Rio Grande valley of New Mexico. It is rarely found in adjacent U.S. states and in the northernmost part of Chihuahua, Mexico. The shrub typically grows in high deserts, at elevations ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 ft, which equals 910 to 1,830 m. Its main range is centered in sand scrub communities of the Chihuahuan Desert ecoregion, but it also extends into the Little Colorado River valley of northeastern Arizona, located at lower elevations of the Colorado Plateau.
