About Psilocybe zapotecorum R.Heim
Psilocybe zapotecorum R.Heim has a farinaceous and raphanoid smell and taste. This species grows solitarily, gregariously, and sometimes in cespitose clusters of around 50 mushrooms. It can be found near rivers, creeks, and ravines, and sometimes grows directly from steep mossy ravine walls. It also occurs in humid, shadowed locations within mesophytic forests, oak-and-pine forests, or cloud forests. It is often found in subtropical forests that contain Alnus sp., Magnolia sp., Fraxinus sp., Quercus sp., large pines, and blackberry bushes. Psilocybe zapotecorum R.Heim has been recorded growing in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.
