About Pseudognaphalium canescens (DC.) Anderb.
Pseudognaphalium canescens, also classified synonymously as Gnaphalium canescens, is a flowering plant species in the Asteraceae family, commonly called Wright's cudweed. It is native to western North America, where its range extends from western Canada to northern Mexico. This species grows in a wide variety of habitats, ranging from mountains and plateaus to coastlines. It is a biennial herb that bears white, woolly leaves. In its second year of growth, it produces an erect, many-branched stem that reaches a maximum height of approximately one meter. The plant is gray-green and woolly, and covered in many narrow leaves. Inflorescences grow at the tips of the stem branches, holding several pointed oval-shaped flower heads that are pale yellowish, cream, or white. Each woolly flower head measures a few millimeters across, and contains many tiny flowers.
