About Psathyrella pennata (Fr.) A.Pearson & Dennis
The cap of Psathyrella pennata is brown. It begins conical or egg-shaped, then expands outward to become convex or flat, and measures roughly 1.5 to 4 centimeters across. Young caps have a fibrillose texture. The stipe is 3 to 7 centimeters long and 0.2 to 0.5 centimeters wide. It starts fibrillose when young, growing smoother as the mushroom ages, and retains a faint ring zone from the partial veil when young. The gills are adnexed; they are light brown when young and darken as the mushroom matures. Psathyrella pennata typically fruits in spring, and occasionally fruits in fall and winter. It grows in soil within burned areas after forest fires, and also at firepits. It is commonly found near Morchella, Crassisporium funariophilum, Geopyxis carbonaria, and other fungi.
