About Psathyrella bipellis (Quél.) A.H.Sm.

This fungus has a purplish cap that reaches up to 4 centimetres (1+1⁄2 inches) wide. White flecks of veil tissue are sometimes present around the cap margin. Its gills are narrowly adnate and tannish in color. The stem grows up to 9 centimetres long, and it produces a purplish-black spore print. It resembles the species Psathyrella subpurpurea. It can be found growing on wood debris and in grass habitats in North America.
