Scientific name: Protoschinia scutosa (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775. Technical description and variation: This moth has a wingspan of 30 to 36 mm. Its forewings are dull whitish, with olive-brown speckling across the marginal areas. All stigmata are large, conspicuous, brown, and outlined in black. A brown band sits between the dark outer line and the white subterminal line. The hindwings are white with brown veins. They have a broad dark marginal border that contains two pale spots between veins 2 and 4. This dark border is preceded by a sinuous outer line, and a large black discoidal lunule is also present on the hindwing.
