About Prostanthera scutellarioides (R.Br.) Druce
Prostanthera scutellarioides is an erect or low-lying, faintly aromatic shrub that typically reaches a height between 0.3 and 2.5 meters (1 foot 0 inches to 8 feet 2 inches). It has ridged branches and linear leaves that are 6โ25 mm (0.24โ0.98 in) long and 0.5โ2 mm (0.020โ0.079 in) wide, gradually tapering to a petiole up to 0.5 mm (0.020 in) long. Its flowers grow in leaf axils, with bracteoles roughly 2.5 mm (0.098 in) long at the base of each flower arrangement. Sepals are 3โ4.5 mm (0.12โ0.18 in) long, forming a 1.7โ2.5 mm (0.067โ0.098 in) long tube with two lobes; the upper lobe is 1.5โ2.5 mm (0.059โ0.098 in) long. Petals are pale to deep mauve, and 7โ8 mm (0.28โ0.31 in) long. Flowering occurs mainly from spring to early summer. This species grows in woodland and forest habitats, on the coast and tablelands of New South Wales, north of the Windsor district.
