About Prospero autumnale (L.) Speta

Prospero autumnale, commonly known as autumn squill, is an autumn-flowering plant that belongs to the subfamily Scilloideae of the family Asparagaceae. This species is distributed across the Mediterranean region, ranging from Portugal and Morocco eastward to Turkey and the Caucasus, and it can also be found in Great Britain. Although it is currently classified as a single species, Prospero autumnale is actually a cryptic species complex. A number of different cytotypes have been identified within this complex, and these cytotypes cannot be distinguished from one another based on their physical characteristics.
