About Prosotas dubiosa (Semper)

Prosotas dubiosa, commonly known as the tailless lineblue or small purple lineblue, is a blue butterfly belonging to the Lycaenidae family. Its distribution spans from Asia through to Australia. This species was first formally described by Georg Semper in 1879. The butterfly is confirmed to occur in Sri Lanka, peninsular India, and the Himalayan region from Sikkim to Assam. Its range extends further into Myanmar and Yunnan, with possible presence in Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, the Philippines, and Sulawesi. Further east, the butterfly is confirmed to occur in Australia, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. Within Australia, its distribution extends from Northern Australia down to New South Wales, reaching as far south as Coffs Harbour.
