About Prionosciadium thapsoides (DC.) Mathias
Prionosciadium thapsoides (DC.) Mathias is a plant species native to the Mexican states of Veracruz and Mexico, and to Guatemala. It is a biennial herb that grows a large taproot. Its leaves are bipinnately compound, with leaflets that are pinnately lobed and have broad obovate lobes. The species produces white flowers, which grow in dense compound umbels at the top of the flowering stalk. Chemical studies of the roots have identified several previously unknown dihydrofurochromones in this plant.
