About Primula parryi A.Gray
Primula parryi, commonly known as Parry's primrose, is a herbaceous perennial plant. It is native to wet habitats located from the subalpine zone to alpine tundra in the Rocky Mountains, ranging from Montana south to Arizona and New Mexico. Its flowers are magenta with yellow centers, called eyes. The species blooms in summer at high mountain elevations, and in late spring at lower elevations within its range. The entire plant produces a skunklike odor. Asa Gray formally named this species Primula parryi in honor of Charles Christopher Parry, who discovered the plant in 1861. Parry had previously named Grays Peak after Asa Gray.
