About Primula marginata Curtis

Primula marginata Curtis is an evergreen or semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial. It grows to 15 cm (5.9 in) tall and reaches 30 cm (12 in) wide. Its leaves are toothed, shaped from obovate to lancelet, and have a leathery texture with mealy-white edges. From late spring to early summer, it produces umbels holding up to 20 slightly scented flowers; these are most often lavender, and occasionally pink, with white mealy eye zones. The mealy-white covering on its leaves is the origin of this species' common names. The earliest cultivation of Primula marginata dates to the 1700s. Numerous cultivars have been developed for garden use, and some of these have gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
