About Primula japonica A.Gray
Primula japonica A.Gray is a herbaceous perennial species. It reaches 45 centimetres (18 inches) in both height and spread. It grows from leaf rosettes that can be up to 25 centimetres (9.8 inches) long; in spring, clusters of purple flowers grow on upright stems from these rosettes. This species produces flower scapes that reach 2 feet (0.61 m) in height. The first printed photograph of this plant was published in 1871 in the Gardeners' Chronicle.
